Principal - Arthur D. Milano, BSBA, MBA
Mr. Milano has worked for over 40 years, encompassing his entire career, in the field of Human Resources. After receiving his Bachelors Degree from Northeastern University (BS Business Administration) he learned the business working in the healthcare and banking fields before taking a top HR position at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, Ma.. He then earned an MBA at Suffolk University in Boston in the Executive MBA program. After seven years in Attleboro he moved to Berkshire Health Systems first as the VP - HR at Berkshire Medical Center and was later promoted to the health systems level. A few specifics of his employment history are illustrated below.
- North Shore Medical Center (Salem, Ma) - worked mainly with the Employment function, Employee and Labor Relations.
- St. Elizabeth's Medical Center (Boston, Ma), - At St. Elizabeth's he amassed a rich experience in many areas of HR. He was part of a management team that navigated two major union elections comprised of two bargaining units, a technical and a service & maintenance units. These were the days when organizing campaigns were active is numerous hospitals in Massachusetts. The hospital won both elections and made improvements with regard to policy and practice to assure a union free approach in future years.
- Bank of Boston (Boston, Ma.) - Initially hired as a Employee Relations Officer he was promoted to the Director of Compensation for this 11,000 employee financial institution. This experience allowed a great learning process both in employee relations and in the compensation areas.
- Sturdy Memorial Hospital (Attleboro, Ma.) - After assuming the HR Director position responsibility increased and scope broadened. He was able to fend off two union organizing drives by educating management and communicating well with employees. Also, while at Sturdy, he partnered with the payroll department and was a main architect of an early automated time & attendance system using "Kronos". He was also an instructor training managers at seven southeastern Massachusetts hospitals using a collaborative training initiative.
- Berkshire Health Systems (Pittsfield, Ma), - having spent the last 28 years at Berkshire Health Systems he has worked in every area of the Human Resource field. Serving as part of the senior management team and partnering with others, accomplishments during those years included: the introduction of new payroll technology at two different junctures, the introduction of new self service benefits technology, the termination of a defined benefit pension plan and the introduction in the early 1990's of a new defined contribution pension plan, the introduction of new applicant tracking and recruitment technology, the development of new employee and management evaluation programming and the introduction of a professional management training program for all of management. During those years he also had extensive experience with employee and labor relations.
